Don't glue all the parts together yet, Admiral!  First talk to Vitrix or the Perrys to turn this into a plastic kit that will benefit us all!!!!!
I agree, but I'm afraid it is to late  :)

Will You keep the armament detachable, to allow for a civilian version?

That work is just so neat and precise! And being a plastic kit nerd I recognise the motive units attached to the paddle wheel as the sponsons from a Churchill tank. That's inspired.

I am so envious of this ability my teeth itch!
Beat me to it I recognised them too. Got to agree that it is inspired. :o
Love the attention to detail, particularly how you are doing the deck. It looks great. :-*
Where are the doors from or are they scratch built?
With the material you are using it is really going to be a solid piece of work.
Looking forward to seeing the progress.
Keep up the good work  :D

Inspired, both in design and construction!  :-*  I particularly like the paddle-wheel. Yes, do please fit more guns. You know it makes sense, no matter the historical antecedents.  ;)

I've been gaming the Sudan for nearly twenty years, have come across many a model gunboat in my time, and this is the best-looking model I've ever seen. Bravo, sir!

that's a really nice piece of work.

I built the 'Melik' (another of the Omdurman campaign gunboats) a few summer back. The thing ended up being about 30" long and about 5and a half inches beam. This look bigger.

great work Admiral?

love to see you give it a slightly rusty look.

So, back from Crisis and the wonderful show it's time to proceed with the gunboat. Hadn't have too much time before Crisis, I was able to work a couple of hours yesterday and that's the state of affairs now:

Upper deck house was finished, the two main guns detailed and smokestack construction started (it's way too long and will be cut down later). All main components are still unglued to ease painting.

Detail shot of the 6 pdr QF-Guns from Eureka. Very nice models, but look at the boring and uninspired original gun shields. Had to make my own from sheet styrene and some rivets. There is a nice contemporary picture showing this kind of gun shield on a steamer in the Osprey Omdurman book.

The decks have been measured and marked for all the deck supports and rails, and everything has been drilled already. I've got 40 turned brass deck rails from a ship modeller's supply, and very nice they are! I'll show you next time.  8)
