On The Road Back To Boston
« on: September 05, 2022, 07:01:24 AM »
These are a couple of scatter type pieces that I made.
They can be placed along the roads back to Boston, where the Patriots relentlessly fired at the British from behind walls or fences.

All of the figures have been converted by moi.
The stone wall was a resin piece that I broke into pieces.
The fence was a LeMax Christmas piece that I took apart and reconfigured.

All of the rest is scratch built on MDF.

Fun looking scatter terrain!

But for a little critique from a native who has hiked along the National Park's Minuteman Trail in all seasons of the year, I would never have guessed that was April along the battle road.  Nice peak autumnal colour you've got there.

In early spring, the tall grasses would be quite beige and dead from the winter, with shorter new green grass growing up under.  Maybe some taller sprays of light green, but not red.  If the sapling had leaves, they would be a light and bright green; if it was an oak sapling, it would be bare but with ruddy new buds at the tips of all the twig branchlets.

[The trail is always a lovely hike if anyone comes visiting!]

Very nice work.

And given Cat's critiques, I'd say that except for the green top to the deciduous tree, the rest of the terrain is 'close enough'.  No idea if the conifers are "in place" but it is a model meant for the pleasure of the modeler - and all the rest of us as he works so hard to share so much with us.  It is appreciated.  And enjoyed A LOT by me.

And, Cat, good advice for those of us who might choose to emulate to some degree what King's Mountain is showing.

I've hiked the trail many, many times and I spent a school term in Boston.

Remember that you are applying today's weather conditions to 250 years ago.
Before pollution, warming and simple shifts in weather patterns.

So, I disagree with your assessment, but I welcome a chance to see your interpretations.
Thanks!

It's always nice seeing, and making, multi-hued terrain.

Alas, I won't be doing early spring terrain any time soon, I still have plenty of late autumn to go when I get back to the big Sleepy Hollow project.  Here's a little bit of late autumn corn though.

Ooh, yes — very nice corn in its greener stage!
