Flexible ammo belts?
« on: August 27, 2022, 04:13:50 PM »
I'm missing an ammo belt on a gatling gun toting gorilla I'm building right now (don't ask  lol ), and I initially wanted to replace it with some 40K parts, but they were no match.

Now, I could build my own from polystyrene, but then I remembered that some time back, I saw some online store offering flexible (rubber or silicone) ammo feeds in different sizes, and that would be a much quicker and easier option.

But for the life of me, I can't remember where I've seen them. Anyone know the manufacturer of those bits?
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

If you can't get them, you can also use cut down to size strips of  hard disk ide flat cables. There are various sizes.
I used them also to make tracks.

Thanks
An added bonus is they're very flexible as they're made of a rubbery plastic like material. Forgot to say that the mechs are 6mm & the vehicle 15/18 mm.

I figured they were tiny by their bases; those are 20mm, right?

I know the material; I used to have a full box of them back in the day; never occured to me they might one day come in handy in this way though!

In the meantime I just made an order with Zinge; those were exactly what I had been thinking of. Ranelle the gatling-gorilla will be pleased...

Yep, Gaspatch models, they do MGs for model aeroplanes, and do ammo belts of various calibres up to 1/32. Of course other aftermarket companies do the same thing such as Eduard in either photo etch or resin, also very good and in all scales, and brilliant service Czechoslovakia to Australia in three weeks during the height of the pandemic.

I have seen cable ties used as well.

D -  Yes 20mm.

OV - As you say, Cable ties might be used also but they're not so flexible & the material they're made of doesn't glue well. I have tried it but gave up.
