Roundway 15mm Cossacks for the Great Northern War
« on: March 13, 2022, 01:59:08 PM »
I've been meaning to paint these for a few years now.  Two units of Cossacks for the Great Northern War.  They will work for pretty much any side and are based according to Barry Hilton's With Talon and Claw rules.  They are from Roundway Miniatures.

Roundway has since ceased trading and if anyone knows if they are likely to appear again I'd like to hear about it.

No knowledge of current source for Roundway but Freikorps (from QRF Miniatures - once they are settled in their new home and back in production) or Minifigs should be compatible.  Also, Dixon has a range (former Two Dragon?) that might also work.  Of course, these are Marlburian rather than GNW but contemporaneous so hopefully useful.

Here is a link that might help: https://www.deepfriedhappymice.com/html/figrev_sy_dixon_wss.html

Hope that is helpful.

Thanks, I'm interested to see what QRF does next. I fondly imagine that they might pick up the Roundway ranges but that's just wishful thinking.

As it happens I have loads of Dixon GNW stuff that I've finally managed to turn into Russian Swedish Armies.  I'll likely post them on this board in the next week or so.

Nice paint jobs.
I'd be interested in when Roundway start again with someone new.
The fellow who acquired them also had the Naismith ranges. Sadly they disappeared. But as you say, hopefully to be picked up by someone else.

We can live in hope.  I've not heard anything so far.

Essex still make the old Mikes Models  Renaissance Cossacks as well as some for the 17th century. Both types are compatable size wise.

I think the Roundaway are unlikely to come back into production any time soon.
The Roundaway and Naismith 15mm ranges were sold by Navwar, and the new owner seems to have been a little erratic in his customer service.
Several comments to this effect on TMP

He seems to have stopped trading around 2019.
