Do you have any painted pictures?

I will have them painted up next week. It will be a challenge, most of the trucks were painted glossy black and I have never painted an all black vehicle.

These are great.

Not something I was aware of, and in many ways surprised to see the might US Army building field expedient lash-ups (and now you have said they were painted glossy black, I can’t help but think A-Team). The idea of welding a M113 hull to the back of a truck is pretty interesting - you would think that the engine and tyres of the truck were the weak point, and having an armoured box on the back wasn’t that much use.

The whole idea does remind me of German WWII vehicles were they took any hull they had and added the biggest gun they could find. I’m not sure the Germans went as far as taking two separate vehicles and welding them together to make a hybrid (by making this statement, I now expect to be shown many examples!)

There were a lot of trucks built during the war by various units but it seems that glossy black was certainly used on various trucks. The one that survived the war and was brought back certainly was.

Of course this museum picture is way too clean and nice compared to what was in the field but you can clearly see the paint job.
The reference material indicates that they were painted like this to intimidate the enemy and attract attention away from the rest of the convoy. There is even one of the truck that mounted a fire engine siren and would crank it up when going in to action.

As I promised, a painted up Gun Truck. Take it easy on me: it's a game piece not a model! It was a challenge to paint a black vehicle! This is done in 28mm for my Vietnam Games. I created a decal sheet and had it custom printed, added a real nice touch to it - no way I could do the logo freehand.

That is superb. I have 3 of the Gun Truck books and that epitomises them.

Outstanding work. Really looks the part.

Are you doing 'Nancy', the OG one with the quad .50 cals as part of the range?
