10mm 1812 General De Armee battle report
« on: September 07, 2022, 10:52:20 AM »
First outing for my finally finished (well as finished as these things ever get!) 10mm 1812 French and Russian armies. The battalions are the frontage they are so that they will if required fit onto Kallistra hex terrain if needed but primarily to allow more units to fit onto a more modest (7' x 4') table at home.
Two divisions of Davout's large I Corps with heavy cavalry support vs Tuchov's II Corps of Russians with cavalry added. The French must take the redoubt and push on up the central road to Moscow.

The initial set up and first few moves are described in more detail here:
http://thenorthumbrianwargamer.blogspot.com/search/label/10mm%201812

I will continue to post updates on the action both on my blog and on this post.
Dave.

Cracking looking game, I like the look of the Kallistra hexes, they make a good looking table. Look forward to seeing more. :)

Brilliant looking table! I have always wanted to use the Kallistra hex terrain but the shipping cost to the US is prohibitive.

Latest progress, a cavalry skirmish on the Russian left while the assault on the redoubt begins:

Russian cavalry charge the French but are driven back behind their supporting horse battery.

The Russian heavy battery in the redoubt is forced to withdraw due to casualties received from a combination of five French batteries and skirmishers, they did badly damage two of those French batteries in turn themselves but the French skirmishers are over the ramparts, will they be forced back by the supporting Russian line infantry?

See here for details of the 10.00 - 11.20 turns:

Raining here today so I should get a few more turns in.
Dave.

Update, the field of battle at mid day, turn eight. The first French attack on the Shevardino redoubt has been repulsed but some exceptional die rolling on behalf of the Russian Morom and Revel musketeer regiments.

An impressive looking game! It’s always good to see 10mm figures spread out to give a whole battle on the table.

What manufacturer(s) are your figures?

Fred, they are an eclectic mix of Old Glory, Magister Militum and Pendraken.

The final French assault goes in 16.20;

Photographing and writing up slowed things down but I was still able to take things at a leisurely pace for this large battle and it was fun to get the 10mm figures onto the table at last. Hope you enjoyed it.
