Dunno if you've seen these but Iron Duke have a pack of generic Indian light cavalry in the pipeline. They have yet to be released (the pic was previewed back in May) but they will most likely come out at some point in the next few months :

No problems whatsoever ordering from Indus. Got my order( US to EU) in less than 2 weeks.
Glad to hear that- there is more I would like to get. I believe there were plans to expand the range but I imagine life has got in the way.

Good news, everyone!

Now... In Lord Mornington's history/public report on the 2nd Anglo-Mahratta War (available on archive.org), he states that the allied Mysorean cavalry accompanying Maj Gen Wellesley in the Deccan (including at Assaye and presumably Argaon) were paid at Company rates by their government. He also praised their performance, although that might be in the interests of diplomacy rather than accurate history. The Company irregulars with matchlocks in the GAPS range might work for chaps of that description - in regularity, they fall between the actually pretty regular Mutiny-era Irregular Cavalry Regiments and the "true" irregulars we've been discussing so far. (I really wish the Company had chosen a different term. :?) Thoughts?

Looking for suggestions as to the most affordable way to assemble a moderately significant force of generic very irregular 28mm light cavalry for early-mid 19C India -
Just my thought...but you could try with Gripping Beast arab cavalry lower  bust/legs fitted to Wargame Atlantic Afghan tribesmen cutted upper bust, arms, weapons and heads...hard plastic is easy to cut and convert

Definitely the cheapest way to go as lots of the heads with turbans would work very well.

After comparing these guys with the Empress website photo, I think they're just head and pose variants for "REB34 Irregular cavalry" in the Indian Mutiny range.

I followed up with The Snook himself a few days ago and the figure code is still under development and is not yet released.
