The Warre Game - 17th Century, Cuirassiers
« on: September 24, 2022, 08:39:03 AM »
I noticed this on Facebook and thought it worth dropping here on LAF.

Verbatim:
"SALUTE 2023 - I’ve secured a place at this premier show and have embarked on a rather mad project ….
I’ll be showing
THE DEATHRIDE OF GUSTAVUS ADOLPHUS
I’ll be putting together the confrontation between Piccolomini’s Kurassiers and the Smaland Horse at Lutzen 1632 …
At one to one scale ….
Approaching 1000 cavalry on the battle        table
To that end I’ve been busy commissioning a small range of Cuirassiers to bulk out my own collection … pictures below
I think they are rather fine and if there is sufficient interest I’ll be offering them up for sale (hopefully breaking even)"

EDIT: Hyperlinked images keep being "moved" on Facebook so I've left the images as attachments for your perusal on the bottom of this post.

Thanks so much for sharing this. I would otherwise have missed it. These look to be really superb figures. I wonder who the sculptor is.

It should make a wonderful game Roo. Here's to hoping I can make Salute 2023!!

Jolly nice. They look like Hicks sculpts to me. And yes, eBob horses I think.

Yes, they do look like Hicks sculpts. If they are, they may match the Empress ex-Horcata TYW range.

The owner has confirmed they are Hicks sculpts and he's agreed to make them available for sale.

I will definitely be getting some of these once Steve has them cast up and available for private purchase. They should match the ex-Bohemian Troops/now Empress TYW range without any problem, methinks.

Likewise. Somewhere I've got tucked away the cuirassiers which Paul sculpted for Arsenal Miniatures, now produced by Warlord Games and marketed under their Wars of Religion range. These should be too early, being designed for 1560, but I seem to remember that I once thought they matched reasonably with some ECW cuirassiers I was looking at. I'll have to dig these out and have another look at them.

Saw this yesterday on the book of faces - looks very exciting, both the figures and the game.  As I think I said on FB, I can always find space for another nice unit of cuirassiers.  :D

I have one unit of cuirassier for my Royalists, and really, one unit is all you would need for any ECW battle both sides combined ( lol)  but.... these look really nice.
