It is a skirmish game with its own system like many others and can be played as a campaign. It tends to create a more cinematic game "story". The TV part comes from the cards that are used to govern each turn. They can be random events, bonuses and detrimental things that happen. Those cards tend to be based on things that happened in 70s TV shows such as continuity issues with terrain moving, people tripping over and random explosions (in the regular game) as examples. It allows you to create your own "cast" but most of the stock character cards are based on TV series and movies. I find it to be a fun system for a game night that is not to be taken too seriously. My suggestion would be to see if anyone else plays it locally and test it out before playing to see if it is for you.
