Anything coming down the pipe for Supersystem?
« on: October 16, 2009, 12:42:36 AM »
Hello all!  :)

After I purchased (and fell in love with) Supersystem 2.0, and the 2007 annual.....I got to thinking...the new rules came out in 2006 I believe, then the Annual, and Holiday special was in 2007.

So is there anything in the works for Supersystem? I would loooove to see some new supplements, scenarios...anything.

Thanks in advance if anyone knows anything!

 :)

I don't know anything official, but I'm a fan of a couple of defunct White Wolf RPGs and I've found User Content can be good to fill out the gaps. I'm yet to look up user content for Super System, but a quick Google search may dredge up some player scenarios, heroes and maybe more.

I'm part of the yahoo group, and a hell of a lot of emails are going back and forth about version 3. From what I can tell it steamlines a few of the more confusing powers, and generally adopts the rules for multiple attacks from the annual and little special, reducing some of the heinous combat characters to something manageable.

All in all though I rarely pay any actual attention to the emails since I'm more than happy with 2.0.

Well Scott is around here somewhere. Just call him out. He may like cheese, so try that. If not a big ole steak cooked medium i am sure will work.  :-)

I'm here, and right now I am going through the laid out pages for 3rd ed. We're still waiting for the cover art to come in, and we need to build the new SuperSheet, but we're getting closer. We've got 14 new and re-worked SuperFigs in the pipeline as well. Those may hit by year's end. Don't know for sure.

Third ed. really just brings together everything from the Annual and Holiday Special, but also makes some significant new additions/changes. Carried goals in combat add to the damage dice pool on a 2 for 1 basis now instead of 1 for 1. For example, you hit and beat your opponent by 3 goals, you get +1D to your damage goal roll.

High dice pool totals, whether attribute or power dice pools, now require Super support. That support can come from super-attributes, or a combo of super-attributes and the Super power modifier. For example, you want to have a Strength of 6D? Well, you have to buy at least Super-Str x 1 for it. You want 3D Strength and a 3D Melee Attack power? It still adds up to 6D, and requires Super x 1. You could get this with Super-Str x 1 for 6 pts., or buy the Super power mod at level 1 for the Melee Attack (costing only 3 pts). Either way you'll be covered.

There's more little stuff, but those are two of the biggies.

Hope this helps!

Scott

Thank you so much for the replies everyone! Greatly appreciated.  :)

@fourcolorfigs - Sweet! Cannot wait for the new stuff! My massive heroclix collection thanks you for allowing them to finally take part in a real comic-book feeling battle.
Also I was wondering what your stance was on fan made material?
If someone were to say....create a supplement for the system, and completly handed it over to your guys, would you make it available as a free pdf or something?
Keeping in mind it would have to meet the quality standards that Supersystem, and Four Color Fig fans have come to love.
Just curious, as I have a TON of ideas...lol
Thanks again!

@fourcolourfigs: Just a quick thought that came to me, with the version 3 hero sheets, would it be possible to get a digital version as a download that could be typed on and printed? Blood Bowl and Necromunda are doing something similar.

This is possible. Fillable PDF. I'll talk to  my layout guy about it, or perhaps karl? We'll see!
