[Kickstarter] Kingmaker II
« on: September 27, 2022, 02:29:01 AM »
New edition of the classic board game, and ever popular engine for minis campaigning, has launched on KS today.

I've been following the development discussion on Board Game Geek for the last several years.  Includes the original rules for 2-6, new streamlined rules with scenarios for 2–5, and solo play.

Appropriately, there was a slight delay in the launch with respect for the Queen's funeral.

I saw this yesterday and if they stay true to the Kingmaker format is till indeed be a special day when it is released.

I'm desperate for a copy but not really a fan of Kickstarter's so it's left me in a bit of a dilemma!  :o

Well that funded quickly!

Atheling - I suppose it depends if getting £10 off RRP feels worth it for committing funds now - or waiting for it to come out to retail - if and when that happens.

It's not that..... it's mostly the wait  lol

For us treasonous colonists, this is an excellent time to pay with the quid/buck rates what they are right now!

I’m glad our disastrous economy has upsides for someone!

Well the wait will be there which ever approach - I usually find the wait less of a problem when someone else doesn’t have a chunk of my cash!

I'd rather wait until the product is concrete and pay a little extra. Each to their won though Fred :)

I can’t make my mind up with this one - the discount isn’t that deep to make the KS seem obvious over waiting for retail.

The idea Kingmaker interests me - but I’m also aware that I’ll not get many chances to play it.

I’ve found with KS that the initial hype draws me in, but then by the time its produced I’ve moved on.

A marvelous old classic.  My brother, friends and I spent many happy hours playing it back before the Peloponnesian wars.  Well, I'm not that old - perhaps before the Great War.

Loved the game as a teenager, but it did tend to go on forever with everyone holed up with an heir in their centre of power. The Avalon Hill version improved things, but multiplayer wargames all tend to suffer from this. I still have my very battered Ariel edition

I chucked mine in a large dumpster bin due to lack of space in the box van before moving back down to England from Edinburgh!  :'(

Fantastic news used to play the Avalon Hill version at university and were able to have a player for virtually every lord. Makes for great campaign game for then miniatures games.
