DBSYW Mollwitz
« on: December 14, 2022, 09:18:40 AM »
Played a solo game using the latest version of the DBSYW playtest.  This time I used some of my 28mm figures which I have rebased on a larger bases.

I decided to refight the classic battle of Mollwitz.

The initial Austrian cavalry attack on their left wing is initially checked by the inferior Prussian Cavalry (they were graded as militia to reflect the Austrian superiority).

However in the swirling melee the Austrians gain the upper hand and are able to destroy both Prussian cavalry brigades.

The victorious Austrian cavalry attack the Prussian infantry but are beaten and destroyed.

With the cavalry threat removed the Prussian infantry move their front line of Infantry forward into range of the Austrian infantry.

Musketry ripples along the line. To the Prussian surprise there seemed to be something wrong their Infantry as the Austrian score successes and destroy two Prussian regiments.

The Prussians react by  moving up elements of their 2nd line to plug the gaps.  Slowly the Prussian numbers and better trained Infantry gain the upper hand and the Austrians lose 7 of their  units and reach their break point first.

The DBSYW playtest rules worked well  and gave a very different game to DBN .
