Fortunately, the quite capable Edward Hand was elevated to overall commander.
Hand fought a textbook delaying action making use of his Riflemen, who were able to inflict serious damage and then escape into the woods.
These are Scott's 5 th VA Riflemen.
Inter-spaced with the Riflemen, are troops with bayonets, to protect the Riflemen from a British bayonet charge.
