WW2 project in 1/35

A little terrain job, these rebar fences were standard for MÁV (Hungarian State Railway), they are a characteristic feature in the Hungarian countryside, found in every railway facility, railwayman service house, station etc even novadays. I designed it in vector graphics (okay, a friend designed it with my help  ), they were cut out of 2.5mm  MDF, assembled and painted. 1/35, but does not look weird next to 28mm figures neither.

Nah, I am not this good They are from a company called Miniart- their blue is a nice relief in the sea of green soldiers!
I always post unpainted pics of my sculpts+ww2 Soviets are not really worth to sculpt for me as they already have a plethora of good quality plastic kits available.

I need to find a photo of what a MARS 1/32 figure looks like beside a regular 1/35 figure, although like you say, there's already good plastic kits out there.

The difference between the two scales is visible when you compare two figures, but I think they can be mixed as on the table it is indistinguishable.
On the other hand, I wont bother 1/32 as 1/35 has much better options in all themes (regarding 1900+ topics), the 1/32 figures I saw (and thats a lot) are either costly display pieces hard to make into an unit or childrens toy quality enlarged versions of smaller scale models made out of soft plastic and sculpted when my grandmother was in kindergarten. Also no bitz available for converting as they are rarely multipart miniatures.

  I love your 1/35 stuff! Looks great! I started in 1/32 many years ago. I added 1/35 items as I went. Airfix made some multipart nice 1/32 hard plastic sets covering multiple armies. I own a bunch of them along with Conte and other nice plastic figs. I own probably about 40+ vehicles and a city worth of commercial buildings. Now that I have multiple printers I can print some things for my use too. I used my own rules Company Commander for years. I am looking at a few other options too. Love the scale and I do it in 3mm, 6mm, 15mm and 1/72. The 15mm are mainly printed. Each are for a different scale/focus game.

3d printing is not that widespread in 1/35, while in theory being able to print stuff in a bigger scale is a pretty straightforward task, there are two problems in the practice:
-heroic scale is just not good in 1/35, you need realistic scale there
-the bigger size does not fit the print supports in the smaller scale models, scaling up also comes with a need to modify the supports
Of course it is only a matter of time to overcome these issues.

Very impressive.  Back in the 80s I saw a game of Squad Leader played on the center stage at a convention in 1/35.  None of the models were up to this standard but it was a good spread.  Looking forward to seeing more.

I ended up making a set of rules also, only 6 pages long, using parts from existing rule sets.  I played a solo game last weekend that was very entertaining and flowed extremely well.  Had 13 G.I.s against 6 Germans hold up in a 2-story administration building.  Object was to capture one of the officers (Commissioned or NCO).  Nabbed the NCO, the officer just wouldn't give up!  But the G.I.s were down to half the "squad" at the end, another turn and they would have had to retreat.

I designed my rules using 1/35 scale, but I see no reason they couldn't be used as is in 28mm.

I also use my own ruleset which is more of a skeleton you can dress up with stuff you steal from other places, for example, I really like the FiveCore command rules, for the next game I will give a try for those.

Some more Soviet infantry. These are among my oldest 1/35 figures, they are from the company Zvezda, the models themselves would be in conscription age... They got a rejuvenation treatment of replacement resin heads (from an accessory set, those are very handy to update old models), new rifles (those are my making cast in resin) and a complete repaint. They will make good rank&file soldiers.

I recently got a box of Airfix 1/32 British and a box of German paratroopers/fallschirmjagers to compare to the Tamiya 1/35 figures I have.
I see no difference in the height of the figures but the Airfix figures are a bit more hefty/filled out/heavier/etc looking and of course less detailed.
Still I feel they should do fine for my gaming purposes and less expensive.  My painting skills aren't good enough for display purposes anyway so I'm happy.
The only downside is the mold lines on each figure.  Takes some time to remove them and keep what detail there is, especially around the head and helmet.

Three Hungrian honvéds with basic infantry gear. They are simply resin copies of my sculpt (I weirdly forgot to take a photo of that), I added some variety with the hair an the moustache. They will be scattered in the 3-man infantry bases, so being the same pose won't be confusing.

Third guy from the Soviet supreme command set: Molotov, the Soviet Prime Ministe&Sectretary of State by the time of ww2. Cocktail, anyone?
