So I saw this game. I had actually seen it first on Little Wars TV as a play through but I searched and the video is no longer on their channel.
It was a Battle Game with regiments rather than a skirmish. I have completely forgotten the title of the rules though. I didn't like any of the miniatures, they were 40mm ish. The games started with NOTHING on the table and had casualty removal and a couple of interesting mechanisms.  I do know that the rules are actually free.
I know this is not much to go on, but maybe it will jog someone's memory?
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

Conquest from Para Bellum games is the only 40mm fantasy mass battle game that I am aware of.

Yeah I would agree with Ogrob and have guessed at Conquest from the size/rank description. They’ve just released/about to release more starter sets and ways to get involved I believe. My friend has picked it up so will hopefully get to play it when I next manage to see him.

Enjoy your new diversion  :D

They recently went on a YouTube kick.  I've seen several channels showcasing starter boxes, etc.  I like the look, the art, the story, the lore, etc...but I just can't believe they went proprietary on the size.

I'd own a bunch of their stuff, but what's the point when it won't fit into any of my fantasy terrain, or work with my dungeons...mats...maps...or other hundreds of fantasy miniatures?  Weird choice.

I just fancied using the rules for 28mm historical medievals...
