Hog Thief’s Bend is, to unashamedly quote Shakespeare, fabby-dabby-dotious…..!

"Fifteens, if there's any photos to want to have a closer look at, let me know and I'll post a zoom-in here?"

Thanks for the offer - you have good close-ups in this thread, more of a general desire.  If I do see an image I want a closer look at, I will let you know.

Fun thread.

Thanks all.

There has been a bit of an upheaval at Hog Thief Bend. I've rotated the town 180° and started to add a riverfront. A bit of work to do there yet and now I need a paddle steamer. I'm wanting the Sarissa one. Herewith, photo from their website.

Cool beans, old bean - on the waterfront (wasn't that a famous movie title!?  o_o).  Nice to see someone else traveling this road.

As part of my - very slowly getting worked on - old west/pony wars setup, I have a waterfront planned with a few riverboats in planning stages, Camp Far West for the Little Big Horn event, and a floating gambling palace.  Already bought the boats, just need to finish painting CFW and need to do some modification to turn an ACW boat into a gambling palace rather than a war boat.  Still trying to sort out how I will include a railroad bridge across the north-south flowing river - and not block river traffic; like yours, my river will be edge of board  Probably have another freight/passenger boat in the mix.  Probably biggest building in my main town will be the riverboat warehouse.

Source for my 15 mm boats is Old Glory 25s - they have an extensive range.  The have large scale watercraft, too.

Will watch what you do with the river with close interest - both for the entertainment and for ideas to enhance my own plans.

Yes, very cool.

Thanks all for your comments.

Just waiting for a few quid to accumulate in the bank account and then it's steamer purchase time!

In the meantime, a few new characters for the town. On the left we have Tickle McScrotum, the legendary Scottish gunslinger. Then, Mimsie Slopcorner who works for Mrs. Miggins at her boarding house. The blacksmith's business in town has the name O. W. Bandy over the door but O. W. is more of an inventor and employs three blacksmiths to carry out the day to day business. These are the Popcorn brothers, Oll, Rye and Lew. Rye is known as a bit of a drinker!

Tickle McScrotum eh…? Any relation?

They are very worthy additions to HTB - a splendid group and some cracking names in the unique Snapcase tradition.

"Tickle McScrotum" is hereby nominated for the most hilarious name in wargaming - and that is saying something.

Love it.

Also note - and Really Enjoy - the line of wagons in the street behind the characters.  One needs a slew of wagons to make a thriving old west town appear to be, well, thriving.  Now you only need at least a half dozen more!   :D

I quite agree, I need to buy some oxen soon, so I can git those wagons rolling!

Yes, some of the Scottish cousins of Old Scrotum (the wrinkled Snapcase family retainer) emigrated to America in the 1870's. It looks like at least one of them made it to Hog Thief Bend.

Finished a few more characters for the town:

From L to R: Johnny Vegas, Boubou Honeylips, Vic Meldrew, Horace Rumpole, Deputy Dorg,  Luke 'the Gopher' Marmite, Judge Roy ‘Baked’ Bean, Rigor Mortison, Eccles.

Rusty Nail and Bluebottle make for a very characterful combination.  No doubt he's buried some treasure somewhere and if he forgets where Bluebottle will remember - maybe Rusty put a bone in with the loot just in case!  ;)

Hey, did I just provide a concept for new scenario!
