iNyezane using TMWWBK
« on: October 24, 2022, 03:25:29 PM »
Couple of photos from this weekend’s big game, a refight of iNyezane in 28mm using ‘Men Who Would be Kings’ rules, which can handle much larger actions with only a few tweaks - we had 500+ Zulus taking on c.220 Imperials, resulting in a hard fought Zulu victory played over a leisurely 5 hours.

Very nice.  How badly (goodly?) did the Zulus win?

It was a pretty close run thing but eventually weight of numbers overwhelmed the British firing line which became overextended and vulnerable once gaps appeared.

We allowed the Zulu Chest and Right Horn to be more aggressive than the historical action, which made a big difference - the initial attack by the Left Horn was driven off with heavy casualties, and the Chest lost 4 (of 9) units - a couple of failed Rallies could have snatched victory for the British, who were forced to retreat after their wagon park was overrun, having lost almost half their number, with the Colonel (& Colours) of The Buffs amongst the casualties.

Ugh.  Lost the King's Colours, did they?  That ain't good, as Col. Simmerson found out in the Sharpe series...

@sjwalker51, beautiful table and minis. Have you generated an AAR of this action? If so I’d like to read it. What weeks did you make in the rules for larger battles?
Cheers,
JB

JB, I posted more photos, together with scenario notes, orbats and rule tweaks (not that many!) on the Facebook MWWBK fan page.

Intombe River is next on the ‘to do’ list, with Isandlwana, RD and Khambula (and possibly Hlobane) in the queue.

It would be good if you could share info here - as some of us are allergic to FB!
