Hail Caesar! Normans vs Vikings
« on: November 08, 2022, 08:11:52 PM »
Finally got to try out my Normans and Vikings at a scale larger than Saga two weeks ago.  Four player Norman vs Viking fight at the club game night.

Full table shot:

Normans (you don't see the archers or crossbows very well, but the milites sure look imposing):

Vikings(using the single based berserkers to denote which units have them):

The milites predictably were brutal in combat, although we forgot about closing ranks which could have tilted things better.  On the other side a host of great rolls by my opponent and average rolls on my side saw him shrug off a slew of wounds while inflicting a lot on my Hirdmen/Bondi.  I almost turned it around with a couple of flank charges, but too little/too late as I was in turn charged from behind by fresh infantry.

I need to finish up another foot unit, Breton cav, and a unit of milites to get to three commands for the Normans.  The Vikings will be a little slower to get the Hirdmen up for 3 players.

That is a very nice table / sized action, good to get a game while still building up forces.

I don't know who Norma is, but I hope I never annoy her.
The laws of probability do not apply to my dice in wargames or to my finesses in bridge.

Great looking game. I have nearly finished 3 divisions of Anglo-Saxons and then on to my Normans. Your Normans look great.
