For what it's worth there's apparently a Mustang as well. Hadn't seen that one before. All the others have popped up locally in hobby stores, basically as start me off projects for kids.  Some years ago I bought the Corsair for my son just for this purpose.

If you are buying the Spitfire or Hurricane just be careful about the advertised contents. I'm not just talking about the usual misidentification on Ali Express and eBay but even the some instore products come with boxes with contents other than advertised. That said and as magnificently shown by this thread they make great gaming models.

Thanks.

Cheers James!

Sandbags finished…will get them painted soon.

There are quite a few 1:48 Stuka kits around but as stated not in this range.
Cheers,

Sandbagged gun nest and ammo store are done, and I knocked up a quick entry barrier.

Using other tents from the collection, I think this makes for a more lived in air field.

When we play it, it will be on a 4 x 4 tables so a bit more opened up than this ( sat on my kitchen island!).  Also, I have to detail the two flack guns a tad.

So I’m calling it finished……now to paint a few SAS heroes……

Looking good, but I doubt that 'Halt' sign will stop a Chevrolet truck. lol

Hmmm….yup, I will need to pop an MG42 in the tower then!

Cheers Utgaard!

No that looks grand!

But I'm with has.been.  That barrier wouldn't even stop an SAS jeep.  An MG34 in the tower might help, if it survives long enough to have that effect...

Looking forward to seeing your airfield set-up in a game AAR.  Should be good, I would think!

I wonder if they used a primitive 'Stinger' type device. Maybe 6" nails driven through a rope, or
welded onto a chain?

Absolutely outstanding work!  Am working on a similar project myself, and this has provided much inspiration.

Fortunately there's a bloke in the sentry box ready to give them a stern admonition for not observing the local road rules.

Very nice set up. I take it there will be a big swathe of adjoining desert to allow the opposition to deploy?

Very nice work all around.  Looks spot on.

A couple of smaller barbed wire Cheval de Frise should do the trick.
A bottle of scotch and two aspirin a day will greatly reduce your awareness of heart disease.
