What a wonderful KuK collection !
Thank you! In 2023 I should really focus on reinforcing the opponent forces.

Indeed :)
The downside of the 1/35 figure sets/ranges from wargaming point of view is that specialists and officers are usually overrepresented in them (be it modern US Marines or KuK). So extra rank&file are always welcome, and sculpting+casting is a good way to make them.

Yay, another one.

The first one is a bit smaller, but I guess there was no Kasierlicher und Königlicher Soldatenhöhenstandard. (I am also sure that there was someone who wanted to introduce something like this.)

Amazing sculpting!  You can see this is a very personal project.

Thanks! Yes, I really like this topic and some new sculpts never hurt. These two will be expanded into a trio, I sculpted them without baggage as the pre-war/early war tactics was leaving the backpack and other stuff behind and going to action with only the weapons to maintain mobility. The lucky survivors then returned for their gear after the battle. Real life then proved to be more chaotic, and the introduction of "tourist-style" backpacks  from early 1915 also made carrying the gear easier.

He looks very splendid indeed.

Shame the enemy will have machines guns and rapid firing artillery.

Early WWI really was a mix of modern weapons and Napoleonic uniforms!

On the Eastern front cavalry had a larger role, mobility was still much needed. Also, Hussars had machine guns too! (now their distinctive gear will be quite a sculpting project...)

This figure (from Balaton Modell I think) is showing the Hussar in parade gear, originally came with a bare head, I sculpted the shako onto him. On the front shako was worn without the plume and with a (pike grey) protective canvas cover- in most cases, especially later, it was replaced by a field cap, but the shako is the more iconic headgear for hussars.

Lovely figure (of course, by 1915 the cavalry is a little less splendid!).

So, the third one. For starters I built 3-3 of them, now they are waiting for the paint.
