What I did last Monday.Billhooks as a skirmish game
« on: November 17, 2022, 11:26:58 AM »
So last Monday I popped over to Bristol Independent Gaming and played a  medieval skirmish game using Billhooks pretty well unadulterated with the addition of some home made skills and and few changes to the effects of the cards. I am happy to say thet the game went well and was fun to play. BIG Jim, my regular opponent and the owner of BIG is an energetic, enthusiastic supporter of any new gaming idea and quite the best person to bounce ideas off.
I have a bad case of prescient nostalgia. The future's not what it used to be.

Great idea! Nice painting on those miniatures too.

You can upload multiple pictures to the same post, by the way!

I give up! Stupid system. How do other people manage? Is it just me?

Interesting idea  :)

So did you just use three or four man units instead of 12 man units to turn it into a smaller skirmish game?

If you had an image hosting site (or indeed a lead adventure forum gallery) you can link to your pictures there and they appear in your thread. Very easy.

All the gen is here:

Each side has a retinue of (at the moment) 12 Incidentally the same number as a Billhooks company. Characters are either Heroes or Retainers
The Heroes
One captain- the Lord/knight/chief brigand/headman etc
two sergents-man at arms/squire
the Retainers
three muscle men- bills for WotR
six missile men- archers in this case
The heroes can command a certain number of retainers and have a Command Range both based on the Heroes Prowess, a rating of the heroes charisma/leadership.
I am up to about twelve pages of rules for this!

"Very easy!" I wish this were true! FB is very easy! This site is archaic! How, in baby talk please, does one get a Lead Adventurers Gallery?

you already have a gallery by default.

Its in the menu at the top of the pages- after all this is a pretty standard forum application.

here is a post from some of the more venerable members that covers it better than I can

https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=9190.msg104926#msg104926

pretty much covers it. similar to Captain Bloods linked info

Well, that sounds very interesting and very promising! Keep us posted  :)

Hopefully you’ll get your picture loading sorted out, so we can hear more. If you keep having issues, let me know and I’ll see if I can help.
