If I can pretend my little toy soldiers are shooting each other, I can pretend the little houses they live in aren’t showing where two pieces fit together.

Are 4Ground trading (yet) again?

The last time I heard of them, they were going out of business!

And a few years before that, they were also going out of business and I panic-bought their ridiculously large inn I had been ogling for a few years (and still have to build ::) ).

Not to rag on them, but: what the fluff?

Also: my prize from a contest Brutal Cities did some time ago has just passed customs and I can't wait to get my hands on it. Ryan designs futuristic buildings in a Modernist/Brutalist style. And here MDF works perfectly, since the buildings are supposed to be concrete. Also; the edges and connection points are cleverly hidden or used as a feature.

So there's a subject for which MDF is very suited. But I totally agree on the use of MDF on other building styles; it's way too obvious and fugly most of the time. My personal gripe are small details realized in MDF, such as handholds or railings. Compared to a miniature, they're about the cross section of an I-beam and totally kill the immersion (for me).

Which means that I don't mind using MDF as a blank canvas, but details and texture needs to be modelled the 'hard' way (or as I like to call it: the fun way ;) ).
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Very interesting though  :)

I did not know the Petite Properties. They have a very interesting range of buildings:
