Your speed painting is about the same as my display quality!

Thank you.

I suppose the take away from this conversation is that we all have different ideas about what's good enough, or not, for the tabletop (and I say that with respect). Again, that's the beauty of the hobby. :)

I find the biggest aid to speed is to realise that figures only get seen from a couple of feet away once you have painted them. Block paint and ink wash looks fine from a distance, and is very fast. I would much rather have 1000 average figures than 100 perfect ones.

As Atheling has said 'to each their own'.

I must confess I cannot satisfy myself with just a block paint and ink wash, it just doesnt 'do it' for me. Which is why I have piles of unpainted figures instead of completed armies  ;)    I guess I am not just painting to get an army on the table but also to achieve some kind of 'artistic' enjoyment, but do sometimes wish I didnt have this need.

I am conducting an experiment at present with some ancient Spanish types to see how far I can get in 30 minutes, and which parts of my process take the most time. So far I have taken 12 minutes per figure and have the basics done. Next will be highlighting and details. I'll start another thread with the results as I do not want to hijack this thread any further.

I would be very interested to see how you get on David. It's probably something I should have done a while back- hopefully I can get around to it soon. At the moment, real life is getting in the way of things but that rarely lasts too long.
