Thank you all for the wonderful comments. I have started the assembly process for the Prussian infantry. Also bought every Contrast/Speed Paint/etc variant of "blue" to have maybe a bit of variety in shades. Unfortunately, my last burst of painting went to far and I developed some kind of tennis elbow pains in my arm! I will have to rest a bit before launching into the next big project. Lots of time to assemble until then.

Fret not old bean, same thing happened to me twenty years ago. Or aptly, about 15 thousand figures back, so I can confirm it's not permanent!

Sorry to here that! (The arm, not the blue paint) Wishing you a swift recovery :)

At the risk of stating the obvious, check with a physical therapist. Once informed of my hobbies mine suggested a few exercises and stretches that really improved my ability to paint without impact.

Ladies and Gentlemen, it's time for Phase 2! My arm is recovered, my energy restored, and a mountain of Prussians awaits. While my arm was out of commission for painting, I started the effort of converting this

into this

The above shows my "project drawer" for the Prussians. Each drawer holds a regiment of infantry with three battalions, command and skirmishers - all cleaned, mounted on wide popsicle sticks, and sprayed in Wraithbone colour. Above the drawers is the planned order of battle in labelled bases, sorted into brigades and corps. From the left we have the single brigade of 1st Corps plus attached cavalry, then the two brigades of 2nd Corps, and finally 4th Corps' four brigades on the right drawer unit. My assembly for now is focused on the infantry formations, leaving the cavalry and artillery for later.

There are a lot of Prussians to paint with very limited variety, so I need to plan out my "motivation curve" for this project. I am going to start with 4th Corps which features all of the large, regulation regiments. These will be assembled mostly from plastic kits - Perry for Line and Warlord for Landwehr - and thus be quite boring to paint. I am going to tackle those first while motivation is high and then hopefully get a second wind from the more varied regiments in 1st and 2nd Corps. For those I am using mostly Calpe figs which are just gorgeous as well as a few other manufacturers for variety. Fingers crossed that this plan works.

For now, it's more assembly for the Glory of Prussia! Stay tuned.
