Fascinating to see this project progressing.

May I be a bit cheeky here and direct any admirers of your work to the Perry Miniatures website, where a substantial - and substantive - article has been posted on the 1815 Brunswickers (on which subject we had some interesting - and, I hope, valuable - correspondence when you were building that contingent.  (Modesty forbids me from naming the author.....)

Baron, that's a wonderful article. Thanks for sharing. I already found more mistakes I made (but shamelessly won't correct :)).

Here is the last regiment of Silesian Landwehr - the 4th. I am missing that third battalion as I am short a flag - inbound from GMB Flags - but those are done too.

First we have Oberstleutnant von Massow in command and then 1st and 2nd battalion. Generic in all respects :)

This finishes up the infantry of 15. Brigade so here we also have Generalmajor von Losthin with Feldjaeger ADC.

I have also finished assembling most of the cavalry. Still waiting for a couple of units in the mail and have to putty all those Perry horses, but the prep is wrapping up.

Thank you all. With the two leading brigades done, I have now shifted to the second wave hitting Plancenoit. This is 13. and 14. Brigade though I will switch a bit between them as I am still waiting for my additional flags to arrive in the (striking) mail.

First we have Oberst von Lettow commanding 10. Infanterie Regiment and their the regiment's first battalion of musketeers. These are Perry plastic and for once in routine line uniform. Even the flag is historical!

Here we have II/10. Infanterie Regiment and its Fusilier battalion with skirmishers. Another regiment done! I am not heading into the holidays so no more painting/posting until the New Year. Wrapping up the year, I painted 1,561 figures though much of that happened in the last 6 months after my recovery from the Anglo-Dutch army early in 2024.

Wishing you all wonderful holidays!

1,561!! That is incredible!

Thank you again Helge for the inspiration. I am productive if I manage 61 minis in a year! Nice to have a stretch target to aim for :D

I love the look! How do you get such a matte finish?

Thank you all.

For the finish, my magic tool  is AK Interactive Matt Spray Varnish. It really unifies all the Contrast paints nicely and gives a very realistic finish. Plus, it works across all weather conditions in my local zone and is very forgiving. Never had any fogging even if I accidentially linger too long on one of the minis.

Happy New Year everybody. I am back and eager to push through the rest of the Prussians. I also received the missing flag over the holidays so here is III battalion of 4th Silesian Landwehr. Unlike the other 11 Silesian battalions, I used Warlord's metal figures advancing at trail.

More excellence!

Were the IIIrd Battalions of Landwehr (and Reserve) regiments counted/trained as Fusiliers, as with the Regular Line regiments, or were they just "more of the same".

The Landwehr regiments didn't have fusiliers. Just three battalions of musketeer line infantry. Some Landwehr regiments had attached volunteer Jaeger contingents which functioned like ligh infantry. For some reason the  Landwehr regiments of IV Korps didn't have many Jaeger so I didn't have a chance to paint a lot of these. There are farily large Jaeger groups in I and II Korps once I get there.

It's also worth noting that the line regiments appear not to have treated their fusilier battalion as light infantry. Instead, the third rank of all three battalions - musketeers and fusiliers - were trained as light infantry. Each of the three battalions would therefore have their own organic light infantry screen (rather than two formed musketeer btn with the fusilier btn in front  as skirmishers). Moreover, it is my understanding that the regiments didn't fight as coherent formations anyhow. Instead, the brigade commander would directly command all 9 btn in the brigade - 3 regiments of 3 btn each typically - with no consideration given to regimental cohesion. Regimental commanders were just added to the brigade command staff with the most senior regimental commander becoming effectively the second in command of the brigade. The net result of this is that he fusilier btn of a regiment might find itself on a completely different part of the battlefield compared ot the musketeers of the same regiment, making it impossible for the fusiliers to act as a regimental skirmish screen.
