WAB interest!
« on: December 01, 2022, 05:09:56 PM »
Just thought I’d mention we have a bit of a WAB renaissance going on over here in Manchester UK.
After 3 successful events this year, more are planned for next year.

March 26th, 1 day event, Dark Ages. 2800pts
June 24/25th mega 2 day event, classical period. 5000pts

Both events use V2 rules and V2 armies from Armies of Antiquity.

I’ve got 22 players signed up for the March event already, we’ve put a cap at 30 players, which would be amazing!

A third event is planned later in the year in Durham, featuring the High Medieval period.

All is looking remarkably good for WAB!
I think it’s the friendly group we have, and laid back attitude.
Plus a little bit of nostalgia.  lol

Hi Tim,

Good to see the old rules doing well. I always liked the changes in V2. I remember some guy telling me he belonged to a group called the dinosaurs, still playing WRG 6th edition. Perhaps you need a similar name for your group?

Or antique or vintage, especially if ilthe name is something along the lines of “The (location) Vintage Wargamers Club”, which leaves it open to interpretation whether it’s the game or the players that are the vintage items…

Thats a great number!

If you fancy playing a competition on Mr Priestly's doorstep in Nottingham next August (11-13) as part of the BHGS Britcon event that'd be extremely welcome as we already have a bucketload of other ancients periods and rulesets on offer, as well as a show and onsite student priced accommodation too

The BHGS (aka 'me' in this case... o_o) do all the logistics and boring stuff so all we need is someone to set the them, do any umpiring/checking needed and stir up interest on the relevant forums and groups.

DM me if it sounds of interest (and likewise for any other ruleset out there, competition-flavoured or othwerwise)..
