Boxes O' AWI
« on: December 03, 2022, 03:24:44 PM »
Hey 15's,    Remember those white, crush proof boxes that I showed here a while back?
They contained some of my AWI collection.

Well, I started to photograph what's in each box.

Here's the first!!
I think I have 10 boxes done so far.

Oh, to actually play with those figures, he lamented... ;)

Moving on to box number 2.

The 18 TH Continentals
Hartley's Regiment

And 2 unnamed, as yet, Regiments.

The first is Blue faced Buff.
The second is Blue faced Red.

When I finally get around to organizing it all, I'll christen these two orphans.
I'm sure I had something in mind when these were completed.
But I never wrote it on the underside of the bases!

There are several more units named Blue faced whatever and Red faced white or green or yellow.

That was the whole purpose of listing and photgraphing everything in the boxes.
As I file all this info on the computer, I am finally keeping a record of what's here.

Hard to believe, I know!!!

Freddy,  This is nothing. I have 25 of those boxes. Hopefully, we'll see what's in all of them!

FifteensAway looks at the above images and thinks of all the associated images and his head starts to spin and he gets dizzy and slowly falls sideways and bangs his head against the wall and passes out.

Then he "wakes" up amidst all these figures and adjacent to a warehouse sized gaming table filled with scenery and a game gets going and plays through without stopping for several days, too, too many days, fatigue and foul smelling armpits and various and sundry libations and sugars to keep the energy flowing.  The clash and bang of battle goes on and on and everyone - there are more than a dozen of us playing - try mightily to remember what our plan was and which unit exactly is that unit over there and then, just as my remarkably heroic unit is about to put the final coup-de-grace to the enemy and achieve victory..."

I really wake up.  And very glad I am because the smell of the other players was really starting to get to me!   Thankfully, the dream was short and I only need my daily shower.  And the bump on the head doesn't really hurt all that bad.  ;)

Boxes number three is next and it features an all Massachusetts cast.

First up is the lovely 8 TH Mass in their beautiful light blue coats.
Then the 2 ND Mass which is followed by the 3 RD Mass.

After that we have Patterson Brigade (10 TH Mass).
And it's PATTERSON NOT PETERSON.

In any event, it's Pizza Box number 3!!

Love the flag for the Peterson unit, colorful and I do believe historical.  Am I going to being getting another bump on the head soon?  If so, I'll try and fall the other direction to balance it out!   lol

Up next? Box number 4 of course!!

Lots of smaller units, as many of these were done when I was wasting my cash on 3 kids, food and a mortgage.
Who knows? I may eventually bring these up to 36 figures, which is my standard unit size.

15's, All I can advise you to do is to wear a helmet!!!
Back with Box 5 later!!

I guess I'll have to dig out my bicycle helmet - soon.

You know, you might be able to put together a really good painting guide by taking an individual stand from every regiment (and version) and taking a closer up photo with the unit identified (and years appropriate for, where known).  It would be a Herculean task to be certain - but I think you'd be readily forgiven for any minor errors.  It would be a great feast of information for those wanting to paint figures for the conflict.  You don't really have anything else to do over the next five years do you?!  :o.

I have a request for the moderator: Can we get all of kingsmt AWI posts put in a stickie for the page?  Thanks for listening!

15's,   Thanks but no thanks to your generous offer to have me work on a painting guide.
As I said previously, it's a lot of work for no reward.
I have enough to do attempting to get this monstrosity in some sort of order,
Sorry,

OK, let's move onto Box 5.

Culpepper Minute Men
NY Light Infantry
AND
3 unnamed Blue faced Red Regiments

When you see Units without designations, that means I could not make up my mind.
Since Blue/Red are probably the most common Continental Uniform, it won't be too hard identify them.

One of these days.      Sigh.....

Aw, shucks, and I was so hoping... lol

Depending on how painted, a good fall back is the last "official" uniforms, just assign to an appropriate state.  Don't even need to number unless you want to drill down that far.

I did send a PM to the moderator about the stickie concept.  Hope you don't mind.  I love the idea of being able to find all your postings on the AWI in one place.

Also Wayne's Legion somehow got put in here.
Cool uniforms, but way too long after the AWI.

Hey they had to go somewhere!!
