« on: December 04, 2022, 10:50:10 PM »
We have released our new set of 12 Dark Age warriors, these are true 28mm whilst our other Dark Age ranges are closer to 32mm.

Available from our website at www.athenaminiatures.co.uk

All the best

Same sculptor as Parkfield?
Em dezembro de '81
Botou os ingleses na roda
3 a 0 no Liverpool
Ficou marcado na história
E no Rio não tem outro igual
Só o Flamengo é campeão mundial
E agora seu povo
Pede o mundo de novo

Would these be OK for using as Goths?
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

Vodkafan, my view is that these aren't suitable for Goths. I would place these firmly in the late 9th/early 11th century as "Anglo-Danes" .  Kite shields, two-handed Dane-Axes and helmet types are a bit of a give-away. Your  Goths would be about 500 years earlier!

Or 900 years into the future but you have to be up to painting the eye shadow and pasty skin tones ;)

Apologies to John for interjecting and steering the thread slightly off course..... those Dark Age miniatures are looking might fine. deo you think you could possibly provide a comparison between the 32mm and the 28mm miniatures please mate?

Would these be OK for using as Goths?

SJWi is spot on. Their armours and much of the weaponry is way too late for them to be used as Goths.

If you want quality Goths, try Footsore Miniatures:
https://footsoreminiatures.co.uk/collections/goths-germanic

Or if you prefer plastic then there's Victrix Miniatures Late Romans which come with heads and other "extras" that will convert the Late Roman mini's into very nice Goths:
https://www.victrixlimited.com/collections/late-romans/products/late-roman-unarmoured-infantry

There are other manufacturers but these two would be my own personal first choices.

Hi Carlos,

I’m afraid I don’t know the sculptor - wish I did as I’d get them to sculpt more. When I bought the Heroes of the Dark ages ranges these were sitting in a master mould unreleased.

If anyone knows the sculptor please let me know, and I’ll credit them on the website.

I’ll try to sort some comparison pics when I can Atheling, we’re moving manufacturing units at the moment with all the chaos that generates, so it may not be until next week.

Thanks for the positive feedback everyone  :)

All the best

John  :)

John,

If it's the same chap that did the winter Apocalypse survivors you have, then I'd be pretty certain it's the same chap who sculpted the Parkfield ranges.  Simon Lee? The sculpting style is quite distinctive. Pretty sure he's both sculptor and owner.

Kind Regards,

Excellent. I look forward to seeing them. In your own good time of course.

Fine looking miniatures.

I could be wrong, but they look like Martin Baker sculpts. He did a lot for Outpost, and I think he also did the 1st Corps Early Saxons etc.

Thanks John, that's great. There is definitely a height difference! :)
