My Lancastrians Get Their First Outing
« on: December 12, 2022, 04:24:07 AM »
After spending several months painting up an army I finally got to put them on the table to earn their spurs. A friend took me though a game of Never Mind The Billhooks which I had played solo in the past by substituting stout English yeomen for Orc and Elves. This time though my Lancastrians got to roll dice in anger for the first time.

A full battle report on my blog at: https://this28mmlife.blogspot.com/2022/12/lancastrians-get-their-chance-wotrs-1st.html

Below is a link to my blog. It's the place where I write uninteresting things about little toy soldiers. I do this because I refuse to grow up and behave like an adult.

Great looking figs and game.
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Thank you for the write up & pretty pictures.
You're nudging me towards buying the rules.
Is it worth buying the 'extras' (Tokens/cards)???

I think so. I don't have but my opponent did and I think they're much better than the flimsy DIY cards and tiddlywinks that used at home.

Glad you enjoyed my game. I was always hoping to give players an entertaining experience but the most satisfying thing about what I have created here, is the way a relatively simple set of rules consistently delivers a believable battle narrative. Can't claim it was something I deliberately set out to do though - it's just turned out that way!

You did well Mr. C. As mentioned in my blog I was a bit reluctant coming from a Hail Caesar mind set (and previous solo games using elves and goblins) but I was really impressed and had one of the best games I've had in recent times. I loved it and now I'm looking at getting my grimy little mitts on the deluxe book.

The question you pose at the end of your blog post should be answered in the affirmative, you do need Yorksits

This is true but... I actually have both a York and Lancaster army in 6mm in my cupboard awaiting paint. They took so long to get to me that I succumbed to the temptation of 28mm.

Before I make a decision I'm going to finish my Percy array with a band of retinue archers and some prickers then maybe it's time to paint some Yorkists.
