New 6mm Sci-fi project
« on: December 08, 2022, 07:49:42 AM »
I just completed my first batch of Sci-fi vehicles by Brigade Models. My plan is to use them to play either Hellfire, Dirtside or Iron Cow 2103 rules. This is a small force with mostly infantry but I might add a few tanks to the army. I took quite a different approach to painting these and you can read my ramble here.

And a few closeups

I've got some infantry with just the basing left to do, which I should have finished in a few days and then more vehicles and infantry probably in the new year.

never enough 6mm sci-fi on there. I enjoy the alternate style you went with, almost refreshing.

Those look great! I like Brigade’s hard sci fi models and your paint jobs suit the figures really well. I’m looking forward to seeing more!

I've finished my first batch of sci-fi infantry. This will be a mercenary/militia force but I haven't figure out a name or organisation yet.

The figures are the lovely RDF figures from CP Models (formerly Angel Barracks). The bases are 3d printed and designed by me in Tinkercad  and inspired by the GZG infantry bases (I've only ever seen these in photos).

So many details on the vehicles at this scale  :o

Any reason of this choice (design) of bases for the infantry ?

I somehow missed that Angel barracks stuff found a new home, that's great to know.

I'm so torn on that style of base! on the one hand it looks much better on the tabletop, on the other I'm so used to clear-cut bases for gaming purposes that it's jarring. I have a stack of gzg power armor on that style second hand and no idea what I'm going to do with them.

Thanks guys. I wanted to break away from the usual square or round shaped bases, but still have small teams on a base.

This is my first time using irregular shaped bases and I really like the look. I think they would suit skirmish games and I would consider rebasing my WW2 and Cold war figures on bases like these, if I didnt have hundreds to rebase!

Apologies for the threadomancy, however I am still working away on this project. I finished some Brigade Models 6mm Desert raider infantry which I forgot to post earlier. They are mostly based up in half sections with some command and AT teams on 2-3 man bases.

Great stuff. Really like the detail you have on these figures. The irregular basing works well too.

Glad you posted again, as I’d missed the vehicles originally - and I really like what you have done with them too - always good to see small scale scifi and good to see something that isn’t Epic as well.

Thanks, I enjoy Epic and it is a great set of rules, but I also like a "harder" sci-fi setting.

Those look great 6mm! My regular opponent had all his GZG/Epic infantry based on similar resin bases he’d made and cast himself and they looked awesome - very organic; I found it blended the chaps into the tabletop very nicely yet allows their position to be clearly seen. It’s the opposite of what I’d generally “go to” as a solution but works beautifully.

Keep up the good work,

Andrew
