North Star Last of the Mohicans
« on: December 14, 2022, 12:20:35 AM »
I just received the latest editions to the Musket and Tomahawk line from North Star.  Although not labeled as such these are clearly the main characters from the Last of the Mohicans book/movie.

The figures are well done but I was surprised how different they are from the previous 28mm releases for the line.  I understand there is a different sculptor at work but the difference in heft is noticeable IMHO.  They would go well with the Perry AWI line and perhaps the intent as these guys were put under a new category labeled AWI, not the FIW.

Anyway I attached a quick photo comparing old vs new.  I was expecting to be able to add to the other figures I have from North Star and mix these, I have my doubts now. :?

Interesting. I’ve been thinking about these. I’m in the other boat from you - most of my figures are conquest/perry/crusader with some big boned Northstar rangers and canadiens mixed in. I wouldn’t worry they look fine together when mixed in numbers

I’ve been eying those since I received the news of their production. They do look fine, and in contrast to you I haven’t invested heavily into the „old“ range.

They do indeed make some nice hero pieces, but hopefully Nick has some more of them in the pipeline!

I will paint them up, and since these guys are all single based it will be easy to move them around if they look ‘off’ when next to chunkier sculpts.

I did a match up with the Perry AWI last night and they look more integrated with those as the sculpting style is similar proportions wise.
