Colonial Tales: Presentation Ceremony
« on: October 22, 2009, 07:40:23 PM »
Gather round the fire, best beloved, for the struggle is at an end and a victor has emerged. He has crushed his enemies beneath his feet, rounded up all their cattle, and made off with their women (whose rather noisy lamentations can be heard emanating from his new Royal Kraal as I type this).

So all hail Grimm, Great Elephant of Colonial Adventures! (pictured below in his ceremonial winner's regalia)

As the winner, Grimm will bear the elephant badge on his profile (just as soon as the Prof. gets around to it, he is busy far away subduing rebellious tribes at the moment, which is why you have me here on the podium making the announcement).

Following the now established LAF tradition of awarding the physical prize to a random participant, it falls to me to announce that the copy of "Battle in Africa" by Howard Whitehouse goes to.... Silent Invader! (which is sort of funny, as he was the only entrant who had no kind of African connection in their contribution  :)) Well done to him for being blessed by his ancestors with good luck.

I'd like to thank those who took part for some very interesting and inspiring entries, I certainly learned a few things I didn't know before. Also well done to Traveller for coming second, and Ray Rivers and Silent Invader who came in joint third. I think it's customary at this point for the winner to come up to the podium to say a few words, and also spray fizzy booze all over the other entrants.

Well done Grimmbo! The man's an inveterate winner! He just can't help himself.

He might not be able to make his acceptance speech too soon though. He's probably tucked in bed ahead of a 4am flight over here to Merrie England for a weekend's gaming.

Kudos to all the participants - all great entries in their own different ways I thought. Most enjoyable.
Well done Plynkester.

Well done to Grimm, all the other competitors and Plynkes. :D
I think Grimm may need to turn up the heating a notch or two if he is going to lounge around like that.  lol

Congratulations indeed Grimm, you certainly deserved first place.
However, this being the LAF, everyone's a winner! All the entries were fantastic.
Although, I must say, I may have only had 7% of the vote, but it was clearly the top 7%...

The competition was very enjoyable, many thanks to Plynkes and the Prof for organising it.

So...when does the next one start?...
I told you so. You damned fools.

Nicely done Grimm, and the rest of the contestants!

One of the problems with this sort of contest, vs the "Build Something" contest especially, is no WiP shots to show off. Can't be avoided, really, but an ongoing process like WiP shots or the LPL's multiple rounds do build interest in us random onlookers.

Perhaps a "Pulp Tales" sometime?

<shudder>  Anyway, even though I came in last, I wish all the participants a hearty "well-done."  And even though I did come in last, I still came ahead of those who didn't enter.   o_o

Next time, I'll know better what I'm up against, and either run away or prepare accordingly!
