WIP's Smallwoods Marylanders and the 3RD NY
« on: January 01, 2023, 07:41:11 PM »
Here are a few WIP's of my new 3 rd NY and Smallwoods Marylanders.
I've applied my super secret recipe for ground paste!

3 rd MY in 1776.

Katcher lists

Brown or Light Blue Coats with green facings.

I like the idea of mixing both Brown and Light Blue coats with a common facing in the same regiment.

1/2 in Light Blue Green Facings

1/4 in Light Brown coats Green facings

1/4 in darker Blue coats Green facings

I used a few darker blue coats due to different dyes being used and colors fading from wear.

Smallword's men wore Hunting Shirts at some point.
Several descriptions mention dark blue as the color, so that's what I went with.

I can document the next several steps in my basing process, if there is any interest.

Uh-oh!  I don't see any dark blue hunting shirts, more of pinkish purple color.  Was it a typo?

Either way they look good.

Works in progress and tutorials always seem to be appreciated so I'd say go for it.  Even if it only helps one person solve a challenge, the effort is worth it.  To me, anyway.

They are a medium to dark blue. I probably screwed up the color using the photo "edit" program.
Sometime "Color enhance" is risky!

When I finish drybrushing, I'll see about the pictures being better.
