Napoleonic Danish miniatures for 1813/1814 - Help required :)
« on: January 02, 2023, 07:43:28 PM »
Hello all,

I've come to a dead end in my Google searches and I'm hoping the hive mind can help.

I'm looking to build the Danish fighting force that was under the command of Davout sind Hamburg in 1813/1814, in 28mm. I have found that Perry miniatures makes a reasonable range, but the prices are eye-wateringly high if one wants to build a more than a skirmishing force.  I'm wondering if anyone knows of another manufacturer or a plastic range that could be kitbashed without too much difficulty??

Thanks!
LS  :)

Perry metals are definately the best option and low for being metal. The easy way out would be to use Perry plastic French in greatcoats as a proxy, which would make sense considering that the fighting took place during the colder months

I'm not sure about 28mm but I would look at some Nap. Brunswickers. That's what I'm using in 15mm for my 1814 Norwegian infantry. Admittedly, the Danes did fight in the colder months as traveller mentioned but if you're not that much of a 'historical stickler', you should be able to find some/convert some from existing ranges.

Eagle Figures do a range of Danes in 28mm, the figures can be bought individually so you can make up a skirmish force. The link for the range is below.

Lazy Student, I think you will find Eagle metals more expensive than Perry. The latter are actually "almost cheap" by the standard of most metals these days. Not sure whose figures you could kitbash apart from the usual suspects of Perry, Warlord and Victrix plastics.  French fusiliers look your best bet to my non-expert eye with the grenadiers looking almost Austrian.
