A few people late last year decided to create this nuts idea - #dungeon23 - write part of a dungeon every day for all of 2023. I'm a fantasy gamer, but what I need is a setting for my upcoming Sellswords & Spellslingers SciFi version. So I decided to #galaxy23, and here are the first two posts:

An introduction and the first planet, the mining world of Hicanede
http://www.warbard.ca/2023/01/02/beginning-dungeon23-or-in-this-case-galaxy23/

And today + yesterday, the Mephistopheles Cloud, a region of space thick with warp-points and abandoned space ships & stations
http://www.warbard.ca/2023/01/05/the-mephistopheles-cloud-galaxy23/

I'll be posting each update here, but feel free to chime in with parts and ask questions

I commented on the blog, but I will repeat it here. I like the setting very much, bad things have happened but it is not all grimdark and hopeless, humanity will rebuild!
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

2019 Painting Challenge :
figures bought: 500+
figures painted: 57
9 vehicles painted
4 terrain pieces scratchbuilt

Thanks! Grimdark has the problem that a) it is done too often and b) that's not how humans actually respond to disaster, by and large

I will be following this with great interest.

Do you envisage your universe to be a human one or multi-species?

Multi-species (I own about 4 different kinds of lizards/snakemen figures) - the next edition for tomorrow will be about the multi-racial Halite Commonwealth

Brilliant. I have humans but lots more aliens I would like to incorporate.

I promised I was going to Halite Commonwealth today, but I took a small detour to Sonnoros, a gas giant with a native intelligent species.

Also, Stable Diffusion is a lot of fun to play with, highly recommend.

Great stuff, I think the addition of the AI generated images really brings the writing to life.

Thanks! This little bits of writing have been lots of fun to do. No pressure do something big, etc.

And yes, the AI art is great to generate ideas really quickly

Today I'm doing a bit of double-duty - creating the Cliffside Monastery of Sheksha-Kah on the Halite homeworld, which will also be used in an upcoming Sellswords & Spellslingers expansion called Cities of the Rift (I needed a Venice-like/Locke Lamora-esque city for some adventures, so I'm creating one).

I'm off tomorrow into Z15A, the giant wrecked generation ship in the Mephistopheles Cluster.

Spent the last few days starting to flesh out the mostly-derelict generation ship Z15A that I mentioned earlier.  I've added a series of settlements in the grand interior space that remains under pressure and has heat:

Love to have comments. Are there any game systems people want hard stats for?

When we first encountered D&D (Waaaay back in the 1960s!!!) I toyed with
the idea of setting a 'Dungeon' in a Generation Space ship that had forgotten
what it was (Damaged, off course, partially broken down).
Groups of adventurers would explore away from their home/safe areas.
Tesh =descendants/followers of the Technicians. These would be seen as Magicians.
Turn these dials to this setting & the room gets lighter.
Whey-Te = The warriors, originally away-team (Red shirts in Star Trek)
and so on.

This thread has started me thinking of this again. ::)
