The Barons’ War…Who’s Playing?
« on: January 06, 2023, 08:49:09 PM »
I’ve played and love Lion Rampant. I’ll be working on two warbands for that in a few months. I understand BW has a smaller model count, but is it a good game? Should I take a look at it and play while my painted medieval model count increases to LR warbands? Or should I just stick with LR and use strength points for units with low numbers of painted minis?

What’s good with Barons War?

I have not played Lion Rampant, but bought Version 1 and also 2. I have been painting figures for it for the past 4 months. It looks like a very good rule set that I would enjoy. Recently, Footsore had a deal that was too good to pass up just before Christmas. I decided to get Barons War and the supplement, Death and Taxes. It just arrived today but after going through the online reviews it too seemed  interesting. I need to read it to determine if it too would be something I enjoy. Good luck in your decision.

I've played a single demo game and I enjoyed it enough to get the rules and some figures. I've even painted some of them!

I think it'll take a few games to really get the most from the rules but they did give a fun game.

I'd love to play, but another project is a terrible idea!  ;)

Saw an advert for Baron's War and Death and Taxes, and was bitten by the "Ooooooh!  New Shiny" bug.  Got some medical treatment and thought I'd ask around first and see whether this was a leap I wanted to take (as opposed to other leaps from other bites.  Damned pesky, those biters).

As good as they look, I'm surprised at how little there seems to be here and elsewhere about them.  So I also have the same question as Jack Hooligan.

Is it at all comparable to "So Convenient For Hewing?"

Updated today 2/1/23

Yesterday I asked

as there was little on Baron's War, and SCFH has also been mentioned elsewhere, including being sold on Amazon.

Well, there may have been little on Baron's War, but there is nothing (as in zilch, zero, nada...) here on SCFH.   :-X   I'll update if I find anything elsewhere.

I'd love to get the opportunity to play it, but I haven't been able to find any players around here. Or for anything to use my medieval miniatures for that matter.

I mentioned this in another thread but there is a pretty active Barons War group on Facebook that may help those looking for other players and such.

I have the game and a good many of the figures. But have yet to play a game. I've had the game from the start and a good number of the figures (I was one of the backers from kickstart). But I have yet to play a single game. The problem is haven't found players in my area. So my modles sit and collect dust  :'(

I played Baron's War several times an I like it very much. It has its little problems and there is stuff to improve for a 2. edition. I played Lion Rampart a few times, but for me it didn't work.
A life without Samurai is possible, but not desirable!
