Palo Alto with FoB3 (10mm)
« on: January 13, 2023, 04:34:34 AM »

I played a solo run thru of the Battle of Palo Alto. The rules were Piquet's Field of Battle 3, all of the figures are from the fabulous 10mm Mexican American War range from Cracker Line.

The rules are really enjoyable, the variation in card decks and dice add alot of feel for the difference in command and quality. The Mexican generals rolled on D8s while the US generals rolled on D10s and D12 (for Taylor). The US won, but it was a close battle. Good looking game - using 10mm figures really gives that sweeping look to the battlefield.

I have to admit I have know idea, beyond the 19th Century, when this battle took place!

Interesting on the impact of the marshes on your thinking - whether this would have been different in a multi-player game or not, I suppose you will find out!

Those 10mm minis look fantastic, congratulations!

The rules sound interesting - not ones I had come across.

I am also interested in MAW and slowly building forces (in a different scale) to use with either Fire and Fury, or Live Free or Die.

Field of Battle are pretty much perfect for solo games, I find. Very good set of rules, and they cover a very wide period, ECW to late 19th century
