Seeking painting tips for spider-cocooned bodies
« on: January 15, 2023, 05:59:49 AM »
I've got a bunch of 3D printed spider victims, the giant spiders have wrapped up individual human bodies to save them for consumption later.  I want to paint the cocoons so that they look right, with the cocoons seeming slightly translucent and slightly glossy.   How would you approach that task?

Thanks in advice for any guidance.

I would try painting the victims as you normally would (at least as good as you can figure out under the spider's silk).  The, if use a mat varnish, do so.  Then, apply a single light coat of gloss white (thinned if needed), light enough to see some of the figure's clothing and skin colors underneath.  That might work.

Abaroths tutorial on wolf spider nests would in principal work on painted corpses.
