Saratoga Grenadier Battalion
« on: January 15, 2023, 09:13:52 AM »
This is my British Grenadier Battalion for Saratoga.

Each stand of 6 figures represents a company of Grenadiers.
The stands contain figures in the appropriate facing colors.

Each parent Regiment that contributed their Grenadiers is represented.

I also have the Light Infantry Battalion completed.

Wow!  I know grenadier battalions were often a bit large but 60 figures?!  That seems a lot in balance with your other units.  So, I must ask, do you have research that supports such a large unit (relative to your others, of course) and, if you do, please share.

And, I guess, while your at it, share reasoning for the lights when you decide to show those - especially if equally large a unit.

60 figures because each of 9 Regiments contributed their Flank Companies.
I use one stand of 6 figures to represent a Company.
Each parent Regiment's facing colors are portrayed on the stand.

So, 9 Companies and 1 Command stand equals 60 figures.
Greg Novak's book lists the Grenadier and Light Battalions as having 500 men in each Battalion.

Since I do not game, I am not bound by hard and fast rulesets.
I just like the idea of one Company per stand. Nothing else to it!

Well, that is good enough reasoning for me.  If you are having fun - and not harming anyone else - whatever you are doing, you are doing it right.

And you seem to get a good deal of pleasure out of what your are doing.
