What is this thing in the circle? a weapon? a peace pipe? Grateful for any ideas!

From memory it's a incompletely sculpted version of the tomahawk through the belt of the dismounted version

No problem - I had exactly the same issue myself, but luckily I was painting them as the same figure mounted/dismounted, so it made it a lot easier to puzzle through!
