Thanks for the comments. The Orcs now have a leader and I have made a start on the archers.

I’m not totally convinced about basing the archers in 3s but will do a few more and see how it looks.

More pike/polearm Orcs in progress, but probably a few weeks from being completed.

More up close photo’s of the archers (more in focus too) and a Witch King/Nazgul base.

Three orc archers per base look fine to me - suitable for portraying an irregular rabble.

The orc command base is superb - your painting is sublime and the organisation on the base really tells a story.

I agree, these new bases all look excellent! They’re basically small dioramas that work on their own or put together as units. Great kitbashes and painting, too!

A wonderfully ecclectic bunch of degenerate goblinoids! And I have to third Beefcake's expression of organised disorganisation; it perfectly sums up what you've achieve here.

Basing the archers in threes is not too crazy an idea; those guys need some room to operate, and you can always say they're skirmishers.

The Nazgul is also an interesting model; where is it from? I'm still looking for a couple of good black riders to oppose my nine walkers...
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

The Nazgul is a Mithril Miniature, long retired from their range, which is such a shame as many of their retired figures are great.

I was influenced by this image, so did a 'version' of it.

MERP (or MERS - the German version) was the first RPG we played for longer periods and where I was GM. While I don’t remember anything particular good about the mechanics and the writing was often terrible and totally out if tone with Tolkien, I still cherish those great artworks on the books!

Your command base is brilliant and your orc archer very suitable!

It came out great.  I also love that style of artwork.

That''s a great looking horde. I didn't realise at first glance how much kitbashing had gone into it but when I zoomed in I recognise all sorts. I've got a lot of Oathmark goblins to put together but I want to kitbash them to look more like your collection. What kits did you find did the most heavy lifting for you?

There are so many people doing LotR inspired / themed orc and goblin armies these days we almost need a pinned thread on conversion inspiration.
