The rules are based upon "The Men Who Would Be King."  We made a 1930's version, that we used to play a second American Civil war campaign.  See the Interwar forum for the ACW 2 New Sacramento Campaign.

We then Riveted on the Weird war rules, with Superheroes.  I have attached the latest version.  Someday they may be ready for Prime time.

These games are well reported playtests of the rules.  They will continue, virus permitting.

The U.C. Davis Nutrition department reference is in deference to my better half.

We are an odd lot in Sacramento.  We play at a store called Great Escape Games, on most Friday nights.

The original rules were to allow the MWWBK system to be used with machineguns mortars snipers armored cars etc.  The superheroes just become other units.  They have melee and/or firepower abilities.  With a few special rules.  They are based upon extensive Graphic Novel research by our team of experts.  But as in any academic discussion, there is considerable disagreement about the interpretation of the original source material.  The discussions have been known to go long into the night with much coffee (usually decaf) consumed.

Others insight would be appreciated in terms of the rules.  Recall they are a work in progress.  You must own and have read a copy of "The Men who would be King" to grasp their subtle nuance.

The SMUD action team is a unit from our second American civil war.  The figures are Zepplin raiders.  SMUD stands for Sacramento Municipal Utilities District.

Our Alt history is set after the death of FDR in January 1933.

SMUD was legislatively created in 1932.  In real world history they were fighting the Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) company in court for the right to sell electricity.  They did not win the right until 1947.   In our alternate history world matters are settled differently.  SMUD and PG&E are two small factions that can be recruited by the players, but never on the same side.  Like Trotskyites and Stalinists, but with cooler uniforms.

It all seems to fit together seamlessly. I love the names, setting & write-up.

Just in case Marvel or DC or whoever is as jealous of their names as the evil empire....

The Phantom is known as "The Purple Penumbra."
We also have Kemosabi, the Solitary Ranger and his Native American companion.
The Green Wasp and Tako,

Breitbart is based upon a famous 20s and 30s strongman name Isador Breitbart.  Who is said to be the model for superman.

More to follow.

Brilliant stuff!!!

Really inspiring and send me rummaging through my boxes. I am stealing your rules for a pre-WW1 bash. I have used TMWWBK for the 1912/3 Balkans War and I have a load of VSF steam tanks/walkers etc. I can see an epic bash in SE Europe coming up!

So cool. These kinds of games are probably the thing I miss most about Sacramento.
