I've had it a while.
Nice book.
I enjoyed reading it.
It looks like a good game. Simple mechanics, seems easy to play.
You can play it solo.
Napoleonic uniforms are so pretty.
Hmm, I bought some Victrix British and French infantry plastics a long time ago.
They've sat in the the pile for ages. Strokes beard...
I'll get a few Perry Command sprues to make the characters.
Those Wargames Atlantic Riflemen look good too. What Ho, Sharpie.
I have a lot of fantasy minis I could use for the monsters.
Better buy some GW Goblin Town Gobbos just to make sure (like I need an excuse).
Let's do some research aka look at pretty pictures.
Look, there's a spreadsheet roster some clever persons done.
That'll save a lot of work.
Shall I?
Go on, you know you need another genre/play set to go with the other 999.
Now what can I rustle up?
So goes the thought balloon escaping out the top of my head. The everyday ramblings of a wargaming butterfly.
But positive action, there's the rub, it so seldom happens. But this time I'll make a start.
This is what I have come up with.
British Unit (100 Recruitment Points – Officer and 6 Soldiers)
Captain Richard Blunt (so predictable, yawn)
Inspiring and Hard to put down.
Hand Weapon, Rifle, Cartridge Box, Cold Iron Weapon, Cold Iron Shot
Junior Officer Lieutenant Nigel Pargeter (dum ti dum ti dum ti dum)
Great Faith
Hand Weapon, Two Pistols, Cold Iron Weapon
Veteran Hunter Sergeant Sharper (we're persisting with this then, really? double yawn)
Indefatigable, Volley Gun, Pistol, Hand Weapon, Salt Bag, Holy Symbol
Rifleman Maggot
Rifle and Cartridge Box
3 x Infantryman (Tom, Dick and Harry)
Musket and Cartridge Box
French Unit (102 Recruitment Points – Officer and 7 Soldiers)
Capitaine Henri Leconte
Nimble and Inspiring
Hand Weapon, Two Pistols, Cold Iron Shot, Holy Symbol
Docteur Gaston Pequot
Medic
Hand Weapon, Pistol
Sapper Laurent Lefort
Combat Engineer
Heavy Weapon, Musket and Cartridge Box
Heavy Cavalryman Maurice Chevalier
Combat Rider
Hand Weapon, Pistol, Breastplate (OK we'll have to pretend here won't we)
Supernatural Investigator Clement Clouseau
Supernatural Veteran, Monster Expert
Fencing Weapon, Two Pistols
Grenadier Baptiste La Bombe
Musket and Cartridge Box
2 x Infantrymen (Jules et Jim)
Musket and Cartridge Box
So, rostered up, built, primed and based – at least I've made a start.
The Wargames Atlantic chaps are vertically challenged compared to Perry and Victrix so I have given them a boost with an extra penny - it should be less noticeable when the wee men are on the table.
I brush primed Liquitex Professional Neutral Gray Gesso for the first time (bold move on a 14 figure lot I thought - glob it on and let it shrink they say - I know how to live life on the edge).
Luckily it mostly worked although it's a bit streaky on some of the flat areas

We'll see how it takes paint when I slap some on. Doubt I'll use it again though but we'll see the end results first.
I have used Rowney Black Gesso many times before with good results but I want the colours to pop more this time.
Next step … let's get painting.
