Hi from Australia
« on: October 26, 2009, 02:48:04 AM »
Hi my name is Silvana I live in Melbourne Australia.
I found a link to your forum on a blog I found the other day. "Carmen's fun painty time". The guys an inspiration looks like he's really enjoying himself.
I paint everything from mini's to 1/6th scale resin garage kits. Resin and metal figures are my preference though I have painted various subjects over the years.
I look forward to being a part of this forum
Cheers
Silvana

Thanks for the welcome.

The weather is fine here at the moment. Sun is shining no rain. It's Spring weather.
Just letting you know I'm a lady, not a man - but that's ok everyone makes that mistake as there are not too many female modellers around. You could say we are a rare breed. lol

I've been modelling since the early ninetees and absolutely love building and painting figures.
I've been painting minis for about 5 years now and I still think I have a lot to learn.

See ya

Then you deserve an extra hearty welcome. I hope you have or will have children. The males of the wargaming species is not famous for it's success with attracting a mate and we a are a bit worried about the survival of the hobby. :)

I have a theory that eventually us wargamers are going to evolve asexual reproduction as a means of continuing homo sapiens gamerus  ;)

Some gamers I know better evolve pretty darn quickly. Not just to be able to reproduce, now that I come to think of it.

Hi S,

Welcome aboard. I've only been painting for the past year and a half, but enjoying every bit of it.

welcome from me too
Your avatar might have been misleading about Your sex, but never mind.

Wargaming ladies might be a rare breed, but this should make no difference in my eyes.

As to the reproduction of wargamers, I think this occurs through viral parasites like a disease, and not through mating - otherwise we would have died out long ago.  8)

Many of the users here have kids, apparently with non-wargamers, so I guess input into the genepool from outside keeps us healthy.  ;)

the description of Your activities were a bit vague - are You basically collecting and modelling or are You gaming as well?

btw, fellow males, has anyone noticed that it is us who make a fuss about the sex, whereas e.g. @HB  did not comment on that?  - just a thought....

Hi there Silvana.

You might be interested to know that there is a bundle of Australians on LAF. They're lurking around the place and generally spring out when wildlife, vegetation or stuff with fangs and way too many legs get mentioned.

Have fun. It's a great forum.
