7TV Feature Pack Battle Reports

(1/5) > >>

gmanrocks:
We're are starting to run through the 7TV Feature Pack campaigns, starting with Rick Rhodes and the Pirates of Luna City.

I figure this board is probably the most sensible as the packs cover everything from fantasy to pulp.

Anyway, here's chapter 1 of Rick Rhodes and the Pirates of Luna City.

Heart of the Lion

Newly appointed Protector of the Solar System, Crown Prince Leon awaits his arranged marriage to the Uranian princess Xuri in his home of Luna City.

Suddenly, the infamous Scarlet Pirates make a daring raid on the leafy Palace of the Lion Men. Can the bold buccaneer Captain Vana steal
Prince Leon from under the noses of the lion men? And what impact will this have on the League of Planets’ fragile alliance with the Uranian Empire?

Some rough images of the two casts.

L-R: Commander Zann, Royal Artillery, 3 Shieldmasters and 5 Guards

L-R: Captain Vana, Bosun, 3 Corsairs and 3 Scarlet Pirates.

Te board is set with the pirates outside the Crown Prince's tree top hut, needing to escape the northern or eastern board edge. The Lionmen have blocked both of their exit routes.

The Lionmen get the initiative, moving up and firing a valley of ray pistols, taking out one Corsair while the others narrowly evade the shots.

While the Royal Artillery blasts at the pirates, putting the Weakened status on one of them.

The pirates begin their counter attack, taking out the Artillery while Vana makes a break for it with the Prince.

Meanwhile the remaining Corsair block the Lionmen from grabbing the objective tokens.

With a roar, the other guards charge at the Corsairs, taking on out while the other swash buckles with the group of guards.

With the Prince in tow, Vana is able to shoot down the Shieldmaster that was attempting to block her way, but the Prince is slowing her down, stopping her from making distance to the edge.

With some awful defending, and limited plot points to use of defence, Commander Zann can't withstand an attack from so many pirates and is eventually taken out of the game... Three 1's on the roll of defence can't help the might Lionman.

The numbers game was taking place on the other side of the table. After a valiant effort, the last Corsair is removed by the Guards.

A clash of steels and ray pistols emerge as the Lionmen and Pirates come blow to blow with a Shieldmaster being removed from play.

The melee allows Vana to slip through the Lionmen's line and escape the board with the Crown Prince.

More rounds go by as the the Lionmen start to turn the tide, hoping to wipe out the remaining Pirates to clinch the victory.

But with the loss of even more Guards, all hope is lost and the Lionmen's spirit breaks.

A 4 - 1 VP win for the Pirates means the villainous cast gains the initiative in the next chapter.

Tune in next time!

This weekend we got Chapter 2 in - The Ring of Power

Rhodes to the rescue! The League of Planets dispatch the Rick Rhodes’ Radium Rangers to Saturn’s Rings to pursue Captain Vana, suspecting her father - the infamous Pirate King Iago - of kidnapping Crown Prince Leon for ransom.

Hidden amongst the colossal icebergs of Saturn’s rings is the Ice Fortress of the Pirate King - Iago. Rhodes rockets to the pirates lair to negotiate Leon’s return only to discover Iago is completely unaware of his daughter’s crimes! The proud Saturnian Pirate is none too happy to be so falsely accused…

The Heroic cast L-R: Rick Rhodes, Commander Zann, Radium Ranger Captain, 4 Radium Rangers and 4 Royal Guard with Swords and Shields.

The Villainous cast L-R: King Iago, Glacian Brute, Glacian Brawler, 2 Glacian Guards, Frost Bear, 2 Ice Tigers and 6 Glacian Raiders.

The board was set with the slippery, tilting Ring of power in the centre, with the Horn of Saturn in the middle of the arena of death!

With the villains picking up the win last game, the King Iago's raiders advance, using one of his gadgets early on the get some of his models onto the icy arena.

As well as breaking the chains of one of the gladiatorial Thralls, recruiting them to their side.

But it's not long before the arena starts to tilt and the occupants begin to slip out of position.

In their turn, the Radium Rangers burst into action, taking out a Raider and making it to the Horn.

And with some words of encouragement by Rick Rhodes himself, free a Thrall for their cause.

The arena continues to tilt, leaving the Ice Tiger to cling onto the edge by it's claws! Hang in there kitty!

Showing himself to be a king who leads from the front, Iago and his men clamber onto the Ring of Power to protect the Horn for the turn. As well as using another gadget to ensure he cannot be targeted in the next turn.

All while his men and beasts flank the Radium Rangers.

Not ones to be left out of a good fight, the lionmen, and their newly freed Thrall charge into battle!

The fight on the arena allows one of the Radium Rangers to swoop in. Passing her Spirit test she proves herself worthy of Saturn and grabs the horn. Now she just has to keep hold of it until the end of the game!

At the start of the villains next turn sees and unfortunate Countdown card effect knock both the Ice Tiger and a Radium Ranger off into the icy waters below.

The Ice Tiger claws itself out of the pool before it freezes and advances onto the Ranger with the Horn.

While a Glacian Guard uses the scenario special rules, allowing you to push an enemy model off the arena into the frozen waters below. Taking a lionmen out with the fallen Radium Ranger.

With a vast horde of gadgets, Iago uses his final one to Dominate the Ranger with the Horn compelling her into an ambush, which luckily for the heroes, fails.

On the heroes turn, the first course of action is to get the Horn holding Ranger out of trouble, removing her statuses. She is able to make her Jet Rocket attack, knocking all nearby enemies over. She then sky rockets over the arena to a safer position while above her a Glacian Guard is knocked into the water below.

Back on the arena, the Ice Tiger is removed from the game after so valiantly battling against the odds.

With some quick thinking, Rick Rhodes uses a smoke grenade gadget, stopping Iago and the others from being activated next turn.

The fight carries on and Rick Rhodes suffers a status, netting a VP for the villains. Every little helps!

The Radium Ranger with the horn now rockets out of sight and to safety, keeping hold the Horn as best she can.

In the final stages of the game, a Countdown card effect knocks every extra down to add to the chaos.

King Iago, obviously having another of everything started to take matters into his own hands, and with the back of of his few remaining warriors, and never failing his axed test, managed to take out Commander Zann and enough extra for me to take, and begin to fail axe tests. More VP to the villains.

I, as the Radium Rangers was starting to feel somewhat smug at this point. Despite having lost a few models, I had the Horn secured and knocked off some models for extra VP. But upon working out the maths, I realised I was actually behind, king Iagos men had gotten VP from axing some models, getting a status on Rick Rhodes and knocking my models off the arena and looked like he had planned to get the extra VP from being the sole side on the arena at the end.

So with the Horn safe and on the last turn of the game...

I threw all my eggs in one basket!...

I pumped all the resources I had into chinning King Iago has hard as possible with Rick Rhodes, electing to push him into the arena, removing his last Health point in the end phase and snagging 2 VP for removing the Glacian Pirate King.

A 5-3 VP win for the heroes, that could have easily ended in a draw. Phew!

The heroes gain the initiative in the next turn and with the acquisition of the Horn, the heroes gain the use of the gadget in the final chapter of the campaign!
