Refurbishing My Old Carthaginian Army More added 09Jan24
« on: March 03, 2023, 11:48:22 PM »
So back in the early 2000's, I built my first historical army: Carthage for Warhammer Ancient Battles. It's been sitting in storage for over 15 years now (along with a pile of unpainted figures for it), and I've decided it was time to dust the army off.  I now have a few more years of painting under my belt, along with better access to hobby supplies, so I've decided to add a bit more polish to them.  It won't be a complete repaint, but I'm adding more highlights and upgrading the bases. Here are the first three units out the gate:

I still have several hundred figures to go, but you have to start somewhere.

They look really good. I love those 1st Corps figures with the concave Chemtou shields.

I reckon they look great. I have victrix carthaginians in the pile.. 15mm Later Carthaginian were my first ancients army back in the 90s.  I'm almost tempted to investigate the 1st Corps range now :)

Nice Numidian/Punic Wargames Factory dues.  Are those sheield transfers ?   If  so who makes them ?

Very nice work so far! :)

Yep, by LBM for Victrix: link

///Edit///

Looks like a few transfers are from LBM directly too. (link)

Thanks Everyone!

Yes, Major Gilbear is correct in that the Numidians have LBM decals. I’m still learning how to apply them well to a convex shield, but the graphics on them are beautiful. Hopefully I’ll get better at it as I add them to more figures.

These are very good.

I have a few Crusader Carthaginians to (eventually) paint and these are acting as encouragement.   :)

Joe kano, a nice looking force. I actually quite enjoy refurbishing older armies. I find the latest shield decals plus a paint touch-up can do wonders.

Thanks again Everyone!  I expect this to be a long haul project, but I'll add updates as units get finished up.
