Which 28mm figures?
« on: March 05, 2023, 03:08:52 PM »
I’m thinking about a Catalan Company type of army.
I’d like to add Aragonese knights.

What figures would be suitable?
I’m thinking 1300-1380 period.
I’d like to use plastics or some of the modern 3D printed stuff?

Cheers

Hi Tim,

These would seem a good start.

Fireforge do some Western Knights but but I'm not sure if their armour is too early.  Crusader Miniatures and 1st Corps do similar late 13th century Knights that might be okay for the initial era against the Turks.  It maybe depends exactly when you are thinking.  Black Tree Designs or Claymore Castings do 14th century figures that might be better for the later period in Greece.  I'm not an expert on this era by any means.

Thanks for that.

It’s the Knights I’m looking for, in theory I have everything else.

Plus I’d like plastic or resin?
I can only find Fireforge, which seem a tad early, or Perry 100YW, which seem a tad late?

Dunno about the early 1300's..... maybe Essex do a few?

But for mid 1440's to 1380's there is no better company than Claymore Castings Tim.

Tim,
You might find what you need from Chris Parker’s Day of Battle Games.

Frankly, all of the plastics which arent Perry are absolutely horrible. The most time period appropriate minis for early 14th.c are the Claymore Castings HYW minis. They are metal but they prime easily and come with almost no flash or casting flaws to correct. I'd heavily recommend them.

I quite like the 1st Corps figures. They look a little more relaxed!

I have another related question,
Could I use Fireforge plastic Turcopoles as Jinetes?
Ive got other kits I can kit bashing with?
