Lovely Mike, the 70’s Photo reminded me of some articles that appeared in the old and wonderful ‘Practical Wargamer’ magazine. I forget the authors name (Mick I think), but he was a great supporter of the hex and used to demonstrate napoleonic games on his set-up, all done at a time when the hex was a mythical creature in the world of figures. I think he used a 5” hex.
I had a goodly Kallistra set-up ….. very friendly for bad backs as the need to lean deep into the table to make measurements is gone!
Thanks Norm,
I remember an article a or two promoting Hexes from someone who basically said you were an idiot if you didn't use them! I am sometimes tempted to put together some hexon or my own 4" tiles to use for hex based games as 2" hexes are too small really - but I didn't set out intending to use hexes in games just for hill positioning.
By the way - still really enjoying your web site updates and following your projects.
