Punic Wars Discounts at Victrix
« on: March 13, 2023, 05:48:55 PM »
Hello everyone,

I saw on IG that Victrix is doing 20% off miniatures related to the Punic Wars ranges.

This includes their Republican Romans, Carthaginians, Gauls, Numidians, Iberians, and Samnites.

I am excited by this as now I can build out my Wars of the Republic forces!  I had been considering doing this, and this might be the impetus I needed.

Very cool!
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

I took advantage of their 20% discount couple of months back, got an entire Persian army waiting to be painted. Oh hell why not, you can never have enough Romans, and their is a little bit of room left in the drawer of shame

Oh god,
I bought some!

The only figures I haven’t got from Victrix are the Republican Romans!
A millionaire trapped in a peasants body!

I’m very impressed with Victrix.
My Numidian army was my first fully plastic army.
It’s great.

Hi Tim,

How does that army do on the table? Do people struggle to deal with the light cavalry? I have never played against a full Numidian army outside Roman civil war games but only a couple of units, so have always been interested as to how they would perform.

I’m a firm WAB player, so I’ve only ever played that system with my Numidians.

Cavalry are difficult to deploy because they are terrified of their own elephants!
But once they get going are a pain for your opponents.
They are definitely only skirmish troops, even lacking potential in a rear charge.

Elephants, well they are always one of two extremes, brilliant or an unmitigated disaster!

I usually use the army in a slightly later role in the late Republican period,
Utilising the imitation legionaries and the Spanish Cavalry bodyguard.
This gives you some reasonable combat troops.

It’s not an army to use if you’re a serious player!
I’m playing WAB V2 now, it’s a much better set.
