Gorgeous Alma game - how important is nice terrain?
« on: March 15, 2023, 07:18:20 PM »
We had the privilege of fighting The Alma on Matt's superb display game terrain. The gorgeous realistic layout really helped to make my mental pictures of the battle more vivid. Report with some photos here:

How important is the quality of the terrain to your games?

I love nice terrain and would always prefer to play on good terrain as I feel it adds to the game.

But, for me fun and sociability are the most important elements of a game. The people I play with are the key thing.

Steady on, old chap, that kind of carry on frightens the horses!

I love seeing great terrain but I'll never manage a "museum diorama" quality table and don't lose sleep over it.

I like natural looking terrain.  The better it looks the more I like it.

Nice looking terrain is nice to have and I enjoy making terrain - often more than I do painting the figures to go with it!
That said I'd sooner play a good game on bad terrain than a bad one on even the most excellent terrain.
And I'm with Sunjester in that a good game in my estimation is far more about the people than figures, rules or terrain.
There are 100 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary and those who can work from incomplete data.
